The Meta-Leadership Summit for Preparedness is a dynamic curriculum designed by Harvard University faculty and tailored to the challenges business, government and nonprofit leaders face.
The Meta-Leadership Summit for Preparedness initiative is supported by a generous grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Recent participants and hosts are giving the Meta-Leadership Summit for Preparedness rave reviews. Here is what they are saying:
“We have spent the last year or so looking at the issue of philanthropy's role in disaster preparedness and response. This led us to playing a role locally with the Meta-Leadership Summit for Preparedness to help increase community resilience, something that resonates more sharply today with attention on H1N1 and public preparedness. The Summit was well attended with over 120 leaders from the business, government and nonprofit sectors, and at the end, many voiced ways they would be willing to assist in making sure our community is prepared. Also, Governor O’Malley announced his new Civic Guard program at the event – and his aide credited the Summit as pushing them to get this together quickly! We encourage you to become involved in a Summit in your community. Based on our experience, you will be a welcome (and needed) partner – we plan to continue efforts to gather the three sectors together to better connect and prepare our community.”
– Betsy Nelson, Executive Director, Association of Baltimore Area Grantmakers
“Planning and preparing for disasters and public health emergencies before they happen are essential to ensuring coordinated crisis responses in our communities. The Meta-Leadership Summit is an opportunity for leaders from the public, private and nonprofit sectors to connect and collaborate in an effort to strengthen our preparedness.”
– Edward J. Ludwig, Chairman, President and CEO, BD (a global medical technology company)
“The only way that we'll be adequately prepared to deal with an unanticipated emergency is to bring together leaders from all sectors to take part in the planning process. From government agencies to businesses and the nonprofit sector, we all have an important role to play, and this summit highlights our shared responsibilities. The preparation that this summit promotes will be key to responding to future emergencies of any size.”
– The Honorable Thomas M. Menino, Mayor of Boston, MA
